CALLtalk

CALLtalk uses PCS symbols at a slightly more complex level of language than other vocabularies. CALLtalk has a highly consistent structure that allows for the quick and easy creation and retrieval of messages and sentences. This offers the user access to a very extensive vocabulary and a powerful range of functions. It takes slightly more selections to generate some messages than IDV. However, this is balanced by CALLtalk’s use of self-closing pop-ups.

A wide range of sentences and vocabulary can be accessed without unduly increasing the number of selections and page changes. CALLtalk is designed so that increasing the vocabulary does not affect the structural consistency.

There are more than 2,000 words and short phrases in the system but, there are relatively few symbols per page, on the premise that it is quicker for some users to change page than to search through large numbers of symbols on a page.
