Talking Screen for Windows is a symbolic, dynamic communication
system. Pages of symbols are linked together in a vocabulary structure similar
to a communication book. Each of these symbols can then perform a number of
actions including synthesised speech, recorded speech, recorded sound, video,
Gewa environmental control or access to other pages.
Talking Screen comes complete with Mayer-Johnson PCS symbols
with the option of many others including Bliss and Rebus. In addition you can
import photographs or pictures. Vocabulary options include the popular Ingfield
Dynamic Vocabularies and the Rebus based Chailey Communication System.
A set-up can be modified over time to accommodate growth in
language skills. Customising Talking Screen is simple, flexible and intuitive,
allowing it to be adapted to the changing needs of users whose use of language
develops every day. Each page may have only one symbol or as many as 128 (8 x
16). Each symbol is easy to edit from within Talking Screen.
A simple and easy-to-use word processor including
word-prediction eases the transfer from symbol-based to text-based communication
providing a route for the transition to literacy.
Features such as magnified scan and advanced auditory feedback
complement a wide variety of input methods and scanning techniques available
with Talking Screen.
